Getting Started with Remento | January 2026 Webinar Insights
Remento’s January 2026 webinar features insights from its co-founder and CEO alongside two storytellers, showing how families record video and audio memories to preserve stories across generations.
Every family has stories that matter—memories, experiences, and lessons that often go unrecorded simply because no one thinks to ask in time. Our January 2026 webinar focused on what happens when those stories are intentionally captured. From the personal experience that inspired the creation of Remento to firsthand reflections from two storytellers who have recorded their own life stories, the conversation explored why preserving family stories—and the voices behind them—can be one of the most meaningful gifts we give to the people we love.
The Story That Gave Rise to Remento
Charlie, Remento’s co-founder and CEO, opened the webinar by sharing the experience that led him to create Remento. The early loss of his father, followed years later by his mother’s cancer diagnosis, brought into focus how many living stories remain unrecorded simply because no one pauses long enough to ask.
Before his mother began treatment, he asked her to start sharing her stories. What began as a way to capture familiar memories quickly deepened, revealing parts of her life he had never heard before and stories she continues to record as her life unfolds.
“When I started recording my mom’s stories, I couldn’t help but think why had it taken cancer for me to get to know my mom in this really meaningful way. That question became the foundation for Remento.”
From that question emerged Remento’s purpose. Remento was created to support storytellers in recording video and audio memories through prompts delivered by text or email. Remento’s Speech-to-Story Technology™ then transforms those recordings into written narratives, preserving both voice and meaning in a form that can be returned to and shared over time.
Finding Freedom in Your Own Voice
The conversation then turned to Jean, a Remento customer, who reflected on her experience with personal storytelling. Originally gifted Remento by her daughter, Jean found it became a powerful way to capture her life stories and create a lasting legacy for her grandchildren.
At first, Jean approached her stories with preparation and scripts, hoping to capture everything just right. Releasing that impulse transformed the experience. Speaking freely allowed her stories to feel more natural and alive.
“When I first started using Remento, I tried writing everything out. Then I realized this is my life. Why am I reading this? I just started talking on Remento like I would to my children or grandchildren, and it felt so much more natural.”
Jean’s experience underscored a simple truth. Stories do not need polish to matter. By showing up and speaking in her own voice, she created recordings that felt honest and true. Remento supported that rhythm, allowing her to record, pause, return, and continue at her own pace.
“The me that comes through in my Remento recordings is who my grandchildren will remember because that’s who I really am. Remento captures the real me, not some polished version.”
The Reassurance Every Storyteller Needs
After Jean shared her experience, Debbie, a self-described "big fan of Remento", offered a perspective that resonates with many first-time storytellers. She spoke to the common hesitations: What if I don’t say it quite right? What if I make a mistake? These questions may sound familiar, but she assured everyone that these doubts don’t have to stand in the way of telling meaningful stories.
“What I love about Remento is that it’s not sink or swim. If something doesn’t feel right when you’re recording, you can stop, discard it, and come back when you’re ready. There’s no pressure to get it perfect on the first try.”
For Debbie, receiving Remento from her children felt meaningful because it gave her space to share her life as it is. Recording herself on video allowed her to reflect without worrying about getting everything right.
“With Remento, my kids don’t just get to read about my life. They get to see me. The facial expressions, the way I talk with my hands. That’s who I am, and Remento preserves all of that.”
Recording became more than preservation. It became a moment of presence. Debbie shared how the process helped her slow down, revisit her experiences with care, and offer her family something irreplaceable, not just stories, but herself.
When Storytelling Becomes a Family Experience
As Jean and Debbie reflected, a shared understanding emerged. Recording stories with Remento was not only about saving memories for the future. It was about feeling seen, heard, and understood by the people they love and who mean the most to them.
They also described how storytelling often became a shared experience. Family members joined in by sending photos, suggesting prompts, or helping to surface memories that might otherwise have remained untold. A single image could open the door to an entire story or add new meaning to one already recorded.
That shared experience continues in the printed Remento Book. Each keepsake includes QR codes alongside written stories, allowing future generations to scan the page and watch or listen to the original recordings. Not just what is remembered, but how it is remembered, through movement, expression, and voice.
Why Families Choose Remento for Memory Preservation
